The Best Bits of Mobile World Congress

As we all know the Mobile World Congress is one of the biggest mobile events of the year. During this year’s MWC we saw lots of big brands showcase and announce all their new releases, some that stood out were Samsung, Sony, Huawei and Nokia.

Samsung has officially confirmed the Galaxy S9 and its plus edition. They look very similar to the S8 but they feature the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. You are able to pre-order these phones now, however they are a little on the pricey side. But the upgraded camera is certainly impressive.

Sony certainly did shine this year with its release of the Xperia XZ2 and the Xperia XZ2 Compact. The devices have won us over with their sleek new designs and its great combination of specs. The price is currently unknown, but we are still impressed with its packed new features. Not to mention Sony have released an Xperia Ear Duo, wireless earbuds that are designed to let you hear music and the outside world at the same time. Not sure how we feel on this one.

Huawei certainly got the crowd talking at this MWC, the brand released a new laptop and three tablets. But what got people talking is the Huawei Matebook X Pro. This machine has powerful software, an excellent screen and an overall sleek design. But what really stood out is the position of the camera, it is hidden underneath the ‘f’ key and to activate it you just click on it.

Nokia released 5 phones at the MWC, now that is a lot of phones! But only two of them really caught our interest. They brought back the banana phone! The Nokia 8110, but this time the device has 4G and a brilliant battery life. Next is the Nokia 8 Sirocco, this phone has kept up with all the latest trends as it’s got wireless charging and nice premium design.

Asus has surprised us with its iPhone X look alike. The ZenFone 5 may have a lightly low res screen but rumours say the phone will cost less than £400 so at that price it’s worth it.

So, this year’s Mobile World Congress event was definitely a good one, especially with talks about developing 5G this year.
