Difference between Mobile, Cable and DSL Banner

Almost 90% of households in Briton have some kind of Internet access within their home. Internet connections are not just being used at home but for companies, shops, hotels and more. These connections will be used by their employees and customers. Although an online connection can be delivered more than one way, this is because people have different requirements for different connections. Down below are a few ways to get online…

Mobile

MOBILE…

Mobile Broadband is a wireless Internet connection that you can get while on the move. Most smart phones will have this built in but to get the connection on other devices you will have to buy a Mobile Broadband device. It runs off a 3G or 4G signal, this is useful for people who travel a lot and want a secure connection. One good thing about Mobile Broadband is that it is consistently growing and getting better as lots of research goes into it.

Up Speed: 0.2-6 Mbps

Cable

CABLE…

Cable get its name from coaxial cable and that’s what makes data transfers possible. The copper wires go from your house, to the poll and then to your service providers box. The down side to this is that you may be sharing band width speeds with all your neighbours and if they are heavy users it could affect your speeds.

Down Speed: 25-100+ Mbps
Up Speed: 2 to 8 Mbps
Latency: 150- 500 ms

dsl

DSL…

DSL which stands for Digital Subscriber Line uses a telephone line to deliver an Internet connection. It has a few variants such as ADSL, ADSL2+ and VDSL2. DSL is available in more rural areas than cable and you won’t be sharing bandwidth with your neighbours, giving you a more consistent connection. Although DSL is not recommended if you are planning to do heavy downloads and file sharing.
